TachoPro Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how KodKite ("KodKite", "we", "us") processes data when you use TachoPro ("TachoPro", "the app").
1. Contact
Developer/controller: KodKite
Region: Germany
Email: info@kodkite.com
2. Data the App Uses
TachoPro is designed to work without a user account. Depending on how you use it, the app may process:
- App settings, such as language, home country, retention period, sound settings, voice-warning settings, speedometer preference, and location-tracking state.
- Onboarding and legal acceptance status, including acceptance timestamp and accepted app/legal version.
- Shift, activity, break, rest, availability, other-work, correction, note, and event-log data.
- GPS location, speed, movement, heading, GPS accuracy, timestamp, country, and route-context data when location tracking is enabled or when the app records movement evidence.
- Country timeline entries, including country code, country name, timestamp, and whether the country was detected by GPS or selected manually.
- Cabotage planning data, such as host country, international unloading date, 7-day window, cooldown date, operation start/end timestamps, vehicle plate if entered, delivery reference if entered, and notes if entered.
- Notification settings and reminder state for driving-time, rest-time, background, and cabotage-related reminders.
- Pro subscription and purchase-status information, such as entitlement status, product selected, purchase or restore result, last successful entitlement check, and cached access state used for an offline grace period of up to 7 days.
- PDF and CSV export files generated at your request.
3. Why the App Uses This Data
- To estimate driving, break, rest, availability, and other-work states.
- To show reminders, warnings, planning information, speed information, country status, and cabotage status.
- To keep local app logs and support correction, review, PDF export, CSV export, and share features requested by you.
- To protect local log integrity, including hash-chain verification of app events.
- To remember your settings, onboarding state, home country, legal acceptance state, and cabotage state across app restarts.
- To check whether Pro subscription features are available, restore purchases, and keep paid access working briefly when the device is offline.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA)
Where EU data protection law applies, we process personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): Shift and activity data, subscription and entitlement status, settings, and onboarding state are processed to provide the app features you use.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): GPS and background location data are processed only if you grant location permission through your device settings. You can withdraw consent at any time by disabling location permissions.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): Local log integrity verification (hash-chain) and version-update checks are processed for the security and reliability of the app.
5. Local Storage, Encryption, and Retention
TachoPro stores operational app data locally on your device. The app does not require a KodKite cloud account and does not sync your driving logs to a KodKite server. The local event database is encrypted with SQLCipher, and the database key is stored using the device Keychain or Keystore where supported.
Some app state is stored locally through the device's app storage so settings and current state can survive app restarts. The default retention setting keeps all records indefinitely. You can change this in Settings to automatically delete records older than 30, 90, 180, or 365 days. You can also remove all local app data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app.
6. Pro Subscriptions and Purchases
TachoPro uses RevenueCat to check Pro subscription and purchase entitlement status. Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat may process purchase-related identifiers, subscription status, product identifiers, transaction metadata, and restore-purchase information under their own terms and privacy policies.
KodKite does not use RevenueCat to upload your driving logs, GPS route history, activity timeline, cabotage records, notes, or exported PDF/CSV files. Those operational records remain local on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
7. Location and Background Location
Location is used for movement estimation, speed display, country detection, country timeline entries, active-shift tracking, and optional evidence/context in app logs. If you grant background location permission, the app may continue processing location while the app is not in the foreground during active shifts or background tracking. You can disable location permissions or location tracking in your device or app settings.
8. Notifications and Background Tasks
TachoPro may request notification permission to send break/rest reminders, driving-time warnings, activity notifications, background alerts, and cabotage-related reminders. The app may use background fetch or foreground service behavior to refresh reminders, purge old records according to retention settings, and maintain active tracking behavior. You can disable notifications in your device settings.
9. Exports and Sharing
If you generate or share a PDF or CSV, the selected file may include activity timelines, corrections, notes, country timeline entries, cabotage periods and operations, timestamps, generated report metadata, and other data shown in the app. Export files are generated on your device and shared only through the share/export method you choose.
10. Sharing and Third Parties
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use advertising tracking in the app.
- We do not operate a TachoPro cloud log-sync service.
- If you export or share logs, the selected file or data is sent only through the share/export method you choose.
- If you email support, we receive the information you include in that email.
- The app may request a version file from GitHub's CDN on launch to check for available app updates. This request carries standard technical data (IP address, device user agent) under GitHub's privacy policy. No driving logs, GPS data, or personal records are sent.
- Apple, Google, RevenueCat, your device operating system, notification providers, share targets, and hosting/CDN providers may process technical data or purchase-related data under their own terms when you download the app, subscribe, restore purchases, use platform services, share files, or visit this website.
11. Website Logs
When you visit this page, the website host/CDN may process normal technical request data, such as IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and request time, for security, delivery, and reliability.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical measures in app design, including local database encryption and device key storage where supported. No device, storage method, app, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
13. Your Choices
- Disable location, background location, or notifications in device settings.
- Change app settings, retention settings, home country, sound settings, and tracking settings where available.
- Manage, cancel, or restore subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
- Review exported files before sharing them and delete exported files you created.
- Clear app storage or uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data from your device.
- Contact us at info@kodkite.com for privacy questions.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. EU/EEA users may contact the supervisory authority in their country of residence. For Germany: Bundesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit (BfDI).
14. Children
TachoPro is intended for professional drivers and fleet-related use. The app is intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at persons under 18.
15. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
